DRR Dhan 70

Background:

DRR Dhan 70 (IET 29415) is a semi dwarf, high yielding, long bold grained variety and resistant to major insect pests and diseases such as leaf blast, neck blast. The performance of IET 29415 was consistently high under direct seeded aerobic conditions in Zones II, III, V and VI. On over all basis, it showed yield superiority of 18%, 20% and 14% over checks from 2020 to 2022 (Table 1a). Therefore, IET 29415 was promising in the states of Haryana (Zone II), Odisha (Zone III), Chhattisgarh (Zone V) and Gujarat (Zone VI) under aerobic conditions during 2020-2022 coordinated trials. It is also responsive to higher doses of nitrogen. IET 29415 has good head rice recovery (65%), long bold (LB) grain type with intermediate alkali spreading value (3.0%), amylose content (21.26%) and gel consistency (38mm) indicating good cooking quality. The release of IET 29415 will certainly increase rice yields in aerobic grown areas of Zone II, Zone III, Zone V and Zone VI. It also saves lot of water since it can be grown in direct seeded aerobic condition and also, we can increase area of rice with available water resources.
