Background
Parasite Egg Concentrator A veterinary parasitologist or pathologist, medical pathologist, laboratory technician examines faecal samples for the detection of parasitic infection by detecting eggs/larvae of helminths or cysts of protozoa. This is done either by (i) Direct smear examination, or (ii) Concentration method. The second one is preferred over direct smear examination for more sensitivity. The concentration of the parasitic stage in the faecal sample can be done by sedimentation or by floatation method using different solutions with or without centrifugation. To perform tests by concentration method, in all the laboratories, there is the use of beakers, strainers, and disposable containers. However, our invention is a new bonanza since the use of our parasitic egg concentrator will minimize the use of strainer, and beaker/disposable containers and also minimize the contact of laboratory personnel with infected biological material.
