Vivek Maize Hybrid 27

Technology Details:-

VMH 27 has been developed by combining field corn lines V 335 and V 345. It is an early maturing (80-85 days) hybrid. VMH 27 gave higher average yield of 4,139 kg/ha in North East Plain Zone (NEPZ) (Zone III) as compared to the best check Him 129 (3.358 kg/ha), exhibiting yield 23.2 per cent yield superiority over the check Him 129. In Peninsular Zone (Zone IV), mean yield of VMH 27 was 4.821 kg/ha, and it registered 35.3% yield superiority over the check Him 129. During the three years of multilocational trials, VMH 27 exhibited moderate resistance against turcicum leaf blight and common rust. VMH 27 has been notified for cultivation in cultivation in the states of Eastern UP. Bihar. Jharkhand. Orissa. Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, Maharashtra. Andhra Pradesh. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu vide S.O.1703(E) dated 15.10.2007. Owing to its high yield and short duration, VMH 27 can fit into various maize-based cropping systems prevalent in the country. The parental lines are high yielding and nick well. These features make VMH 27 an ideal cultivar for commercialization in the recommended states.
