Technology Details:

Arka Neelachal Prabha has been selected as dual purpose variety in respect to yield and quality. It gave consistently higher yield for three years with an average of 493.96 g/plant compared to the standard variety Utkal Ragini which gave 432.70 g/plant. Therefore, It is a high yielding line of chilli.

The plant has upright growth, heavy fruiting potential, dark-green fruits at immature stage and crimson-red at ripening. The average plant height is around 1m and plant spread is 70 cm x 60 cm. Branching, tillering and leaf density is intermediate. Leaf shape lanceolate; leaf margin entire; leaf pubescence sparse and fruit position pendent. Fruits are dark green and medium long (5-6 cm). The green fruit yield of the variety is 10.92 t/ha. Aphid population and mite population were moderate per leaf. Incidence of Cercospora leaf spot and leaf curl was higher than the check variety. This variety is suitable for green as well as red chilli and will make an impact to the tune of 13.63 % yield increase compared to the popular variety Utkal Ragini.
