DRR Dhan 71

Background:

DRR Dhan 71 (IET 29421) is a semi dwarf, high yielding, medium slender (MS) grained variety and resistant to major insect pests and diseases such as leaf blast, neck blast. The performance of IET29421 was consistently high under direct seeded aerobic conditions in Zone VI and Zone VII. On over all basis, it showed yield superiority of 17%, 37% and 10% over checks from 2020 to 2022 (Table 1a). Therefore, IET 29421 was promising in the states of Odisha (Zone III), Gujarat (Zone VI) and TamilNadu (Zone VII) under aerobic conditions during 2020-2022 coordinated trials. It is also responsive to higher doses of nitrogen. IET 29421 has good head rice recovery (64%), medium slender (MS) grain type with intermediate amylose content (24.75%) and gel consistency (24 mm) indicating good cooking quality.

Technology Details:

The cultivation of DRR Dhan 71 will certainly increase rice yields in aerobic grown areas of Zone VI and Zone VII. It also saves lot of water since it can be grown in direct seeded aerobic condition and also we can increase area of rice with available water resources.
