TransCare-Goat (Anti-transport Stress Oral Powder for Goat)

Background:

This important animal husbandry practice of transporting live goats is exercised for various reasons including destocking / re-stocking, breeding, transfer of animals between farms from drought-stricken areas to better grazing sites or for marketing and slaughter. In addition, economic drivers such as better profit-gaining areas in more distant markets may increase the duration and frequency of transport. Furthermore, live auction markets also sell a major of the goat population, a series that increases transport times and the number of events the animals are exposed to common stressors like loading, unloading, handling, overcrowding, noise, vibrations, extreme environmental conditions, food and water deprivation. Thus, these animals are exposed to certain stimuli and encounter a wide variety of stressors on numerous instances during transport and handling. The transport stress induces live weight loss which in turn influences the product quality by adversely affecting the productivity, bringing economic loss. Furthermore, transport of goats in summer season involves crucial risk factors in terms of compromising animal welfare. From producer’s viewpoint, transport associated stress has become a serious husbandry challenge causing detrimental effects in livestock production globally as it has become a pivotal factor in deciding the product quality. Goat forms one of the major and fast-growing commodities in livestock sector in India. India possesses 153 million goats. Stress is unavoidable during handling, overcrowding and transport. Stress due to transportation of animals causes significant loss of energy, vitamins, minerals and electrolytes in the body leading to physiological imbalance thereby affecting the performance and wellbeing of goat.

Technology Details:

TransCare goat is an efficient anti-stress feed supplement for use in goats to relieve transport stress. Transportation stress in goat results in significant production loss due to decreased energy, vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes in the body. This leads to physiological imbalance affecting goat production, reproduction and welfare. This product is composed of vitamins, minerals, energy sources and electrolytes. These components are mixed at optimal proportions to get benefit by relieving the transportation stress. TransCare helps the goat to maintain their physiological functions by balancing the vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes.
