Shoot tip culture of banana using temporary immersion bioreactors

Technology Details
An efficient micropropagation technique using temporary immersion bioreactor (TIB) system has been developed. At the end of the 6th subculture, 1496 ± 110 shoots per explant could be obtained in TIB. The multiplication of shoots in TIB is 2.7-fold higher than the semisolid culture method, which is suitable for large-scale production of planting material for commercial applications.
Benefits/Utility: Cost effective - High rate of multiplication, no need of gelling agent, media requirement is 2 ml/plantlet. Aa bioreactor vessel can yield minimum of 150-250 plants
